Xisqueta is the brand that represents the local dynamization of the Obrador Xisqueta in the Catalan Pyrenee. This non-profit-making association was born in 2009 to support the recovery of the shepherds and artisans who work with the xisqueta-breed of sheep, named after its vast size.
This project has three pillars: to raise the local wool as raw material, to keep alive the shepherds job that breed this specific kind of sheep by paying a fair price, to transform the wool into textile products, giving it some interior applications and as insulating materials for buildings.
With this philosophy, an artisan team from Pallars Sobirá works to offer high-quality, hand-made products, created from the xisqueta wool and under the direction of the designer Marina Mercieux.
