Olann is born from the desire of Jess Kavanagh to create a sophisticated palette of colors for yarns that are produced in an ethical way.
The purpose of this Irish indie-dyer is to offer skeins of natural fibers hand-dyed with experimental techniques and to recover the spirit of a previous era. It is a look at the time when quality, craft and sustainability were more valued than mass production.
Jess works in her studio in County Cavan with small productions, taking care of both the materials and the process. Each skein of Olann is an unique piece created by and for thoughtful knitters who know how to appreciate every step of the process.
Furthermore, this year they are going to release their own spinning!
The Sock Lite base is a versatile 4 ply yarn, with fingering weight, for daily use. The mixture of merino and nylon is perfect to knit socks, and it has more length than the majority of yarn for socks. It is also perfect for garments with draft and fingering weight sweaters.
Composition: 80% merino wool and 20% nylon
Length: 425 m /100 g
Single ply yarn with shine that will give even more light to the fabric once washed. It is perfect to knit shawls or even sweaters.
Composition: 100% sw merino wool
Length: 366 m / 100 g
This 2 ply yarn has been spun in our own spinner in Irland so you can knit life-lasting sweaters. The mixture of merino from the Malvinas and Alpaca is incredible. The alpaca gives softness and the merino gives a rustic touch to it. It has the perfect combination of both qualities so you will feel good while knitting and wearing it.
