Lucía Ruiz de Aguirre Rodríguez, aka @luymou is a knitwear designer from A Coruña. She has designed an exclusive pattern only for this fair, knitted with La Bien Aimée Merino Singles in a special color, also created exclusively for Barcelona Knits. We just want to see millions of Vicens’ Shawls all over the world!

About Vicens Shawl

When I was asked to design this commemorative shawl for the yarn festival, I saw it clear that it had to be a garment that represented the city, and there is nothing more representative of Barcelona than modernism, and no one represents it as internationally as Gaudí  does. So I resorted to my favourite piece by the architect, which happens to be one of his less well-known ones, the Vicens House, as I rediscovered its triangle-shaped ceramic veneering, that reminded me of the lotus flowers.

I also figured that the shawl should be apt for all kinds of knitters, experienced and not, and that it should be able to grow in case anyone opted to use more yarn than it was originally designed for. And that’s how the Vincent shawl was born, a simple and enjoyable shawl, with a modernist twist that I hope you enjoy knitting.

Lucía.
